Yes, it’s me again.
Hi there. I’m Scotty. I’ve got a web series “Scotty Got An Office Job” that filmed it’s incredibly successful (if i do say so myself) 3rd season in your lovely country. Tragically I’ve returned to the states, but that doesn’t mean you’re rid of me Australia, oh no. Klick has brought me on for a weekly missive of tech trends, news updates, and bilious rancor for their blog.
Make myself at home? Don’t mind if I do.
To start things off, I’m a day behind you all in Australia. I live on the west coast of a country that is 14 hours behind your Eastern most reaches so the news you get from me will either be hopelessly dated (in internet terms) or the freshest research available.
I’m hoping for more of the latter, and less of the former.
But here’s the facts. America is still a massively slumping economy. We’ve just passed a health care bill that almost nearly brings our antiquated system in line with Canada circa 1966. Our captains of industry gambled billions of dollars on the ability of unemployed people to pay for $250,000 mortgages. We use government funds to pay for failing industries. Meanwhile, your PM has just announced that Australia has climbed out of its economic slump and you’re about to phase out your government stimulus plan.
Well played Aussies. Well played.
So it’s not just that we’re 14 hours behind you. Economically speaking Australia about 3 years ahead of the U.S. Or at least, you all are now where we HOPE to be in 3 years.
But with that in mind, us Yanks (I know, grammatically it should be “we yanks” but that just doesn’t sound right) are a feisty bunch. We’re cranking out new tech by the bucket load, our entertainment sector still cranks out the finest pablum the world has ever seen, and (speaking frankly here) our beer is better than your beer. (*ed Insert Smiley face so you don’t get lynched.)
So check back in weekly with me. If nothing else to leave vitriolic comments about the quality of Australian beer. There should be some interesting stuff here…some of it, most likely, made by us here at Klick.
