Klick developed the app for Australia’s fastest growing men’s title, GQ, has last night launched GQ BarSpy.

Using location-based technology, GQ BarSpy will give its subscribers the latest information on the coolest bars around them that are GQ recommended. The social networking layer of the app means that the GQ man can keep track of the bars they’ve been to, connect, share and compete with their friends for VIP status, discover new bars, and read reviews of the hottest spots in town.

The option for users to upload photos and leave reviews is currently unique to GQ BarSpy, which will further enhance the experience for users.

Kim McKay, Director of Klick Communications and the driving force behind GQ BarSpy, says, “GQ wanted to reach its readers with something that is one-of-a-kind, innovative and useful, while supporting brand values of GQ. The BarSpy app is a lot of fun but it’s also really handy, especially now that Sydney’s bar scene is becoming more like Melbourne where bars are hidden away in laneways. It’s a little bit like a coolhunting GPS.”

The GQ gentleman is ahead of the game, so is GQ BarSpy.

GQ BarSpy is available for purchase from iTunes for $2.49.

Scotty Iseri is the creator of the critically acclaimed web series ‘Scotty Got an Office Job’, (SGAOJ) which he writes, produces, edits and performs. This is how he came into our lives. Klick Communications was looking to add to our team and rather than place a job ad, we roamed the web looking for that special someone that created awesome content and that we wanted to work with. We got in touch with Scotty – offered him the opportunity to come and work with us and he said YES PLEASE!!

SGAOJ series has just wrapped its second season. While the series never states exactly what Scotty’s “Office Job” is, he has worked in new media for a number of years, consulting on the launch of the User-Generated public radio station Vocalo.org, and advising numerous not-for-profit and arts organizations on new media strategies.

Scotty is the creator of the long-running satirical rock concert “The Big Rock Show”, the inventor of the underground social experiment, the Paper Hat Game, and an award-winning sound designer and composer; credits include Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, The Neo-Futurists, the Cleveland Playhouse, and The House Theatre of Chicago.
